Icing Hack

This "hack" is for those of you who hate the mess that comes with putting icing into icing bags.

Start out with your regular plain-jane icing bag and tip...
This is an extra large tip, so it just fits in the bag without a coupler.

Next, get out your trusty ol' plastic wrap... pull off a piece about 40 cm long.

Go ahead and plop some icing on!

After you've done that, fold the plastic wrap in half, over the icing.

Roooooooll it up!

Then, tightly twist both ends, sealing the icing in a candy-like wrapping. *** I did this by holding onto both ends and swinging it around...

After that, put your icing in the icing bag.

Taking tweezers or scissors, gently pull out the end of the plastic wrap through the tip of the icing bag.

Finally, cut the plastic as close to the tip as possible. Now you're good to go!

To clean, all you have to do is pull the plastic wrap out of the top of the bag, and throw it away! NO MESS!!!!

I put my meringue mix in here, and they turned out awesome! Click here to see the recipe.

Meringue Drops

This a recipe for my FAVOURITE TREAT EVER....

MERINGUES!

You'll need:

  • 4 egg whites
  • 1 cup of sugar
  • 1 pinch of cream of tartar
  • 1/2 tsp of vanilla extract
  • Pink food colouring (optional)
Preheat oven to 200°F. Combine egg whites, sugar, and cream of tartar; mix well until frothy. Add in vanilla extract and food colouring. Next, beat until stiff peaks form (it should look like shaving cream). Bake in drops on a greased cookie sheet for 1 1/2 hours or until hard.

ENJOY!!!!
