Icing Hack

This "hack" is for those of you who hate the mess that comes with putting icing into icing bags.

Start out with your regular plain-jane icing bag and tip...
This is an extra large tip, so it just fits in the bag without a coupler.

Next, get out your trusty ol' plastic wrap... pull off a piece about 40 cm long.

Go ahead and plop some icing on!

After you've done that, fold the plastic wrap in half, over the icing.

Roooooooll it up!

Then, tightly twist both ends, sealing the icing in a candy-like wrapping. *** I did this by holding onto both ends and swinging it around...

After that, put your icing in the icing bag.

Taking tweezers or scissors, gently pull out the end of the plastic wrap through the tip of the icing bag.

Finally, cut the plastic as close to the tip as possible. Now you're good to go!

To clean, all you have to do is pull the plastic wrap out of the top of the bag, and throw it away! NO MESS!!!!

I put my meringue mix in here, and they turned out awesome! Click here to see the recipe.

My Favorite Brownies Recipe

Hi guys... sorry I've been a little bit in-active for the past, uh......... 2 MONTHS!!!!  I really don't have any excuse at all for it. :(
But anyways...
Here is my ABSOLUTE FAVORITE brownies recipe in the whole wide world!!!!!

This will make 16 brownies...

Ingredients:
Brownies:
1/2 cup of butter
1 cup of white sugar
1 teaspoon (tsp) of vanilla extract
2 eggs
1/3 cup of unsweetened coco powder
1/2 cup of all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon (tsp) of salt
1/2 teaspoon (tsp) of baking powder

Icing:
3 tablespoons (tbsp) of butter
3 tablespoons (tbsp) of unsweetened coco powder
1 tablespoon (tbsp) of honey
1 teaspoon (tsp) of vanilla extract
1 cup of confectioners/icing sugar

Directions:
Brownies:

1.     Preheat oven to 350º F (177º C)
Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.

2.      Melt 1/2 cup of butter either in the microwave or in a large saucepan. (I usually just melt
         mine in a saucepan.)

3.      Add in sugar, eggs, and vanilla.

4.  Combine coco powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.

5.  Add the dry ingredients to wet mixture.

6.      Spread into prepared pan. Bake for 25 - 30 minutes. DO NOT OVERCOOK!!!  It is better
to have slightly undercooked brownies and to add more time to the oven than to have burnt
         brownies.

Icing:

1.     Combine butter, coco, honey, vanilla, confectioners/icing sugar.

2.     Frost brownies while they are still warm.  *The icing will be thick but will melt on the warm brownies*

Sparkly Easter Eggs Part 1

Sometimes, the same old same old food colouring and water dyed easter eggs can get old... so here's a tutorial on how to make this super cute and festive Sparkly Easter Eggs!

Sparkly M:

How to do the sparkly M:

Materials:
Double sided adhesive letters
Scrapbook shimmer or fine glitter
Hard boiled eggs (With Shell)
egg dye (optional)
Paper Plate

First, make sure your egg is dry. If you are going to die the egg like the Sparkly M, then you should wait an hour or two until the egg is completely dry and not sticky.

Next, apply the double sided adhesive letter to the egg as if it was a sticker. Make sure you smooth the sticker down so it's really stuck onto your egg.     Note: bumps and raised areas are ok, just try to limit the amount of them and get any as smooth as possible.

After that, carefully peel off the top protective layer of the sticker so the second sticky side is exposed. Be careful not to touch the exposed adhesive as that may cause it to detach from the egg.

Finally, it's time for SPARKLES!!!!!   Hold your egg over a paper plate with your thumb and index finger and gently sprinkle some sparkles onto the adhesive letter. The sparkles will get everywhere, so be prepared!

Carefully tap the excess sparkles off of the egg and if necessary, lightly blow or brush away any ones that won't be tapped off.

AND VOILA!!!

You can also use the same glitter technics with glue dots!

THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey guys, this post is about THE BEST BOOK EVER!!!!!!!!! (See title)  ;)  I loved this book soooooo much, that it took me only 2 days to finish it cover to cover! The book is called " Out Of My Mind "

Melody's cerebral palsy has limited her for 11 years.  She's the smartest kid in her school thanks to her photographic memory; her brain is like a video camera that is always recording.  The thing is, no one knows it.  She cannot speak, feed herself, or even go to the bathroom.  People everywhere guess her retarded and her brain as immobile as her body... until Melody finds a way to talk.  This nifty tool is called the medi-talk.  Now, she can attend regular classes at her grade level instead of the pre-school level H-5 classes.  Will the medi-talk fix all her problems?  Will she be bullied in her new classes?  If she tries out for the quiz team, will she make it?  READ THE BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think the main reason why I connected to this book was because I am the same age as Melody. It has totally changed my view of other kids like her. I hope that if you read this book, that it will have the same impact on you.

The Deadly Seal

Yay! My first blog post! The purpose of this blog is to share some of my stories and experiences with y'all. I hope to make you laugh, cry, sneeze, be inspired, and give you some great ideas! The following story is called The Deadly Seal (in case you haven't noticed ) Now, I am a big ol' scaredy cat and seals are not the least bit harmless. Just so you know. Enjoy!

The Deadly Seal

“Go Svea!”  Cheered my mom from inside our speedboat. “Yes!” I thought. “I HAVE DONE THE IMPOSSIBLE!” And I sort of had, at least for me. Getting up on a wakeboard for the fist time had proven super difficult. And I had done it. “WOOOOOO HOOOOO!!!!!” I screamed victoriously. “Good Job Svea!” My dad called.  I stared out to the vast ocean beyond me. Every thing seemed so peaceful.  The wind whipped my hair into my face and I was blinded.  No big deal.  But I panicked.  I tried to shake the hair from my face but that only caused me to lose balance.  The front of my wakeboard dug into the water. The powerful force caused me to flip into the water headfirst.  Almost like the water was a giant magnet and I was a mere piece of iron. Oof!  Well that sure knocked the wind out of me. I tried to inhale, forgetting I was underwater. KCHKCHK!  “Oh great.” I thought. “There goes my life.” As my head rose to the surface, I coughed and hacked and gagged and whatever you can imagine to force that water from my lungs.  I waved my hand to show that I was semi-okay.  At least, I was… until I saw the bubbles coming from beneath my wakeboard.  Now, you must know, that any normal person would be thrilled to swim with a cute, little, harmless, harbor seal.  But I’m not exactly normal.  My ear-splitting shriek could be heard 3 miles up the coast.  And oh boy did I shriek.  I screamed, yelled, and, well… shrieked.  My dad (driving the boat) turned back around towards me so fast, even the water was scared.  “What’s wrong?” “Are you okay?” “Where does it hurt?”  With all these concerned shouts, you would have thought I was the Queen of England who had just fallen flat on her face.  But I didn’t hear any of ‘em, I was shrieking too loud.  I eventually got pulled back into the boat and dried off.  Boy oh boy!  I’m sure I saw I my life flash before my very own blue eyes.
